Istishari Arab Hospital expands its ICU services for COVID-19 patients to 36 beds


Additional 12-bed ICU department opened for COVID-19 patients at Istishari Arab Hospital

Dr. Mustafa: We are working with the private sector and the government to expand the capacity of our hospitals

Dr. Alkaila: Medical teams are exerting tremendous efforts under extraordinary conditions to preserve the lives of our citizens

Istishari Arab Hospital announced the expansion of the capacity of its COVID-19 department by providing 12 additional beds with all necessary medical equipment, including a medical oxygen generator dedicated for this department and installed today. The total capacity of the hospital increased to 36 beds. It was noted that the department has been receiving COVID-19 patients for the last year with a capacity of 24 beds.

The Minister of Health Dr. Mai Alkaila , Chairman of the Board of PIF Board of Directors Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, and the Chairman of the Board of the Board of Specialized Arab Medical Complex Company Dr. Salem Abu Khaizaran, inaugurated the new department.

Dr. Alkaila stressed that the Ministry of Health is exerting extensive efforts with the private sector to curb the pandemic, adding that “the Ministry has undertaken several measures including increasing medical staff, conducting regular tests, and doubling preventive measures. The opening of this department today is another push forward of everyone’s efforts to preserve the lives of our people.”

Dr. Alkaila added “we highly value the quick response of the Palestinian private sector and its role in fighting the pandemic. The opening of this department at Istishari Hospital will have a significant impact on the collective efforts of the Palestinian healthcare system in complementarity with all parties and stakeholders.”

In his turn, Dr. Mustafa said “the concerted efforts and our ability to contribute towards the opening of this new department today will strengthen the efforts to provide medical services to our people during these critical conditions of the pandemic.” Dr. Mustafa stressed the importance of standing united with the medical teams that work around the clock to mitigate the repercussions of this pandemic and provide them with all means to enable them to fulfill their duties.  

Dr. Mustafa added: “in partnership with the private sector and the Palestinian government, we are seeking to provide the largest number possible of beds for COVID-19 patients. This comes as part of our national and ethical responsibility and commitment towards our people, by providing them with high-quality medical services.” He added that “PIF has investments in the health sector as a top priority with the aim of contributing towards the national efforts to develop the healthcare sector. The track record of achievements made possible through partnership with the private sector produced impactful investments on the ground, the most prominent of which is our partnership with Specialized Arab Medical Complex Company that runs and invests in a number of leading hospitals such as the Specialized Arab Hospital in Nablus, Istishari Arab Hospital at Al Reehan neighborhood, Ibn Sena Specialized Hospital in Jenin, and the Cancer Treatment Hospital at Al Istishari.”

Dr. Mustafa said “we have visited Ibn Sena Specialized Hospital in the Jenin governorate few weeks ago, in preparation for its opening. The hospital has actually started receiving patients at the Emergency department and the Outpatient Clinics, ahead of opening all of its department.”

In his turn, Dr. Salem Abu Khaizaran said : “we, at Specialized Arab Medical Complex Company, are proud of the partnership with PIF .
